2019 will be my 16th year participating in Calgary Pride. I joined in 2003 because as a disabled person, I always hated when I was judged based on my disability. In the same vein, I believe that members of the LGBTQ2 community should be judged on their personal merits, not on who they love.
Being an ally for so many years has made me proud to be part of a government that unequivocally supports LGBTQ2 Canadians.
Recently announced, our Liberal government is providing Calgary Pride with $100,000 to support their parade and other programming. Check out this article for more details.
With recent vandalisms of our Pride crosswalks, it’s more important than ever that our governments stand with the LGBTQ2 community, celebrating all that has been achieved and learning about all that needs to be achieved yet.
